An introduction to basic counseling skills and techniques related to sport psychology counseling in a safe and controlled environment. Sports Psychology Techniques & Tips For Coaching Athletes
This course teaches students to apply the principles of motor learning and performance in a variety of real-world situations. Students learn to identify solutions to the many problems and obstacles encountered in teaching and learning motor skills.
Students are placed eight hours per week in a setting, usually in schools or community mental health agencies, which allows them to observe/participate ethnographically with people and groups who are culturally very different from the students. Ethnographic placements are designed to enhance the student’s clinical and cultural competence by increasing their perspective and appreciation of the “other,” while also allowing for a deeper understanding of their own assumptions, stereotypes, and biases.
